Memories of Meg - from her friend Heppie

New Year's Eve
We always had a special meal and enjoyed it with a bottle of something. We'd see in the New Year on the television then bed. Happy days.

We met at Worthing hospital in 1956. We were both Ward Sisters. I remember one Christmas Day when Meg spent half the day looking through black bags of rubbish. One of her elderly male patients had put his false teeth into his rubbish bag which had been collected and decanted into black bags!

We had some lovely holidays together. Looking at gardens in Northumberland - Very surprising! A few days in Penzance. One evening there was a huge firework display after we had retired to bed. So we sat in our hotel room window like the ladies in Amsterdam, but we had no offers! We spent a weekend in Amsterdam, when a plane crashed into a huge block of flats. We found a wonderful brown café where the owner would sit and chat to us. We had a wonderful fortnight in Kerry with Emma and Dorky.

Meg was a wonderfully loyal and true friend and it was heart-breaking to see her deteriorating. She didn't know who I was for the last year or so. I am very sad at our loss, but may she rest in peace.
